Chandelier

reflections in the chandelier so dim
traces curved along the rim
it's hanging by a limb
the luster of its tinge
is somewhat smudged, is somewhat worn
is somehow wrinkled in its form
as if it reminisces light, light, light, life in this home
reflections bent along the edge
the room exposed the corners blended
pulled from end to end
once this room was full of light, i must remember
the furniture is somewhat torn
is somewhat wrinkled in its form
a room that reminisces light, light, light, life in this home

The Simple Life
04:26
|
|
||
play the part
with a smile
and all the thoughts that should accompany
and when the day is done
and the night has come
you'll get to close the door and fall into a million little
pieces on the floor
don't know just where to start
so many parts to
rinse away
hang to dry
sit up straight
and yearn for the simple life
the simple life
it's all around
it's a dream that some yearn to escape
one must choose their faifth
there are different ways
different trails to follow
different strokes for different folks
or is it all by chance?
a most vivid romance
lost clothes, lost pants once
rinsed away
hung to dry
laid out straight
as you yearned for the simple life
lines of plot sure to unfold
uncompromised as if cast by mold that's
rinsed away
hung to dry
laid out straight
and observe the simple life
rinsed away
hung to dry
laid out straight
laid out right
rinsed away
hung to dry
laid out straight
laid out right

All Is In Its Place
04:38
|
|
||
observe the shadows gathered in the corners of the ceiling
the TV glowing cross the room, used cups left on the table
books and clothes strewn on the floor
all is in its place
as you walk outside
observe the fullness of the grass and the patches that have dried
the sprouting of your neighbor's tree and the leaves its cast aside
the woods around are evergreen
all is in its place
it settles where it settles
to wither or to bloom
to grow numb, to grow mellow
is it december? or is it june?
to remember, or to forget
to rejoice or to bellow
it settles where it settles
observe these fleeting thoughts and all that lingers in your mind
observe that which was not to be and that which will come in time
observe it all, observe you'll see
all is in its place as you walk outside

Bicycle Day
03:56
|
|

riding along past the surface, the glow of the bridge
stretches in the distances towards buildings so big
looks like a painting in the water
never still from the depths to the surface
like you, i'm mostly water
like you, i am drifting
as i ride along, my mind too on wheels
riding along past the waters and pillars of steel
the spinning of gears, this vessel i will steer
drifting along in the distance, the people are small
alone with my thoughts and buildings so tall
could be a backdrop in a theatre
once was full from the front seats to the balcony
i too am mostly water
i too, i am drifting
i too am mostly water
i too, i am drifting

The Quiet Of The Streets
05:42
|
|
||
somewhere in this town
somewhere in this city
below the stars
somewhere that is closed behind gates that are shut
somewhere now empty there is silence
i can hear silence
i can hear silence
i can hear silence
and in the quiet of the streets
the quiet of the evening
while i'm awake
although it is dark
and the windows are dim
though i only hear the silence
i can hear silence
i can hear silence
i can hear silence
i can hear silence
i can hear silence

Sides Full Of Laughter
06:02
|
|
||
how sweet it was after the day was done
those streets were empty when we stepped outside
on our way through these city blocks
here begins our plot of simpler times
i can still recall your glowy smile
loose-worn sandals that you'd worn for miles
it seems like yesterday my sides were full of laughter
that dreams could be chased after
not a care, once we were one of mind
how sweet it was at times, those afternoons
in our confusion we shared an understanding
round the corner past the open gate
this i know relate, share with delight
i can still picture the dim-lit skies
worn-out pockets, hands tucked by my sides
it seems like yesterday my sides were full of laughter
my dreams could be chased after
not a care, once we were one of mind
i can still conjur those moments clear
though some is cloudy after all the tears
still seems like yesterday our sides were full of laughter
that dreams could be chased after
not a care, once we were one of mind
my sides are full of laughter
my dreams can be chased after
not a care, once were one of mind
my sides are full of laughter
my dreams can be chased after
not a care, once were one of mind

Glow, Glisten
05:11
|
|
||
once we were lost on a road somewhere in the country
ahead was the moon, were clouds and the twisting of old branches
and though i can't recall the route
just where we saw the glow
(the glisten, the glisten)
the glimmer of dimness
though some things escape my mind
though its fuzzy just the timeline
still i can find in here
still i find what it means
once so long ago, long before today
is appendixed in my mind, a footnote, a loose-leaf citation
though some pages may be lost, i still can see the glow
(the glisten, the glisten)
the gleam of no longer
though some things escape my mind
though its fuzzy just the timeline
still i can find in here
still i can find what it means
still i find in here
still i find what it means
once we were lost in the woods when we found a stream
standing in the mud, our postures reflected in the water
though i can't recall the place, just where i saw the glow
(the glisten, the glisten)
the glimmer of dimness
